In light of the recent federal ruling stating that cheerleading is NOT a sport under Title IX Sean an Andre assembled an all-star panel of cheerleading industry experts to get their opinions.

As I’ve done for the last few weeks there will be a live chat session to go along with the recording of the Weekly Wrapup. This week we’ll be talking about this past weekend’s Region results and giving a preview for how things might shape up this weekend in Columbus. Pick of the Week: Week 8

The DocSpirit.com Pick of the Week for Week 8 goes to McIntosh from the East Coweta competition. Thanks to coach Kelly Hudson for sending the video footage along!

Here’s what stood out about this routine:

The opening tumbling is NICE! Love the front-walkover-to-punch-front, the squad backhandspring-tucks and the double-backhandspring tuck transition.
The stunt body positions look nice and clean. The powerpress-to-scale in the front is a nice touch!
Keep a close eye on the edges of the screen. There are 5 fulls in this routine!
The ripple cheer stunt is perfectly timed and works great with the words of the cheer.
The end of the dance just flat.out.ROCKS! Love it!
The ball-up in the final pyramid is a risky move that was performed very well! It added a nice bit of flair to the pyramid and the overall performance.
The mom that was going NUTS through the whole routine was simply awesome! All parents should get that fired up!

Sean needs your help this competition season!

The 2009 GHSA Competition Season has officially begun and I am chomping at the bit to get out to some competitions and see how everyone is doing this year. I’m also itching to see how well teams match up to the Ga. Cheerleading Vent’s pre-season predictions as well as giving my own two cents. However, due to a variety of things my ability to travel is more limited than it was last year. This is where I need your help. You can help me in out in any of the following ways:

Send me links to any videos you have, or know of, from any of the competitions around the state. I’ll be sure to link the videos here on GotSpirit TV and give you credit in the podcast.
Send me your reports or post a synopsis on the Ga. Cheerleading Vent Forums. Please be sure to put “ATTN: GotSpirit TV” in the subject of any forum threads so I can find them among the other conversations. I’ll be sure to give you credit if I use your synopsis on the air.
If you are hosting a competition that you would like to see covered on GotSpirit TV and are willing to help cover travel expenses contact me ASAP. I’d love to talk to you and see what we can work out.
