2009 Region Preview Wrapup

5 November 2009 12 Comments

The 2009 Region Championships take place this Saturday! Sean takes a look around the state and previews which teams are the ones to look out for and how things might end up heading into Columbus!

EDIT: I noticed that I had left in some chat room discussion near the end of the podcast. I edited it out and uploaded an updated copy this morning. Sorry if it confused anyone with the random chatter after the COED discussion.

sectionals would be better for single A, but alot of single A regions would not agree.

    7AA is a monster division!!
Coosa, Model, Rockmart, Sonoraville,Armuchee, Calhoun, Pepperell , Model and Chattooga.
Going to watch that regional Championship. Armuchee rocked every one at Woodstock. All AA was a sight to behold that day…every one was right on!! Glad I got to witness it.
The only other school I have watched that can compete with programs in the 7AA region IS North Oconee.
Going to get to watch 6AAA, 7AA, 6A and 7AAAA. So excited about Saturday!!!
Don't think Peach Tree Ridge will get beat this year.

Yeah that is another monster! I'm expecting to see Coosa and Calhoun to make it with the next two spots being fought over by Pepperell, Rockmart and Armuchee. It's gonna be a fun one to watch! Between this division and 6A this weekend is going to be CRAZY!

Sean, Maybe you should give Dawson more credit! They have solid stunts. I have never seen anyone do a bow and arrow pyramid. They also have strong tumbling. North Oconee is beatable.

Don't get me wrong, I give Dawson tons of credit. If I recall correctly, had beaten North Oconee atleast once during the regular season. They're a talented team for certain. I don't mean to take anything away from them.

I still contend that North Oconee is their own worse enemy. They usually beats themselves and are their own biggest threat. For example, I understand that they had a strong lead on everyone else this weekend but came in 2nd in Region due to deductions. Mistakes like that definitely make them beatable. However, I'm still convinced that they're knocking on the door to excellence if they could fix their problems and execute.

Chattahoochee didn't place in region. =[
They were in the placement, but until deductions came into the equation…

That's what I heard. What a shame! I wish them the best of luck over there next year. Lane runs a great program and those girls were simply AWESOME all season long. Keep your head's up ladies, you'll be back. I'm certain of it!

I regret not paying more attention to Pepperell earlier in the year. I've heard great things after this weekend. I'd love to get some footage of them before State so I can discuss them more in the State preview. Anyone out there have video of any of those teams?

I had thought Dawson beat North Oconee a couple times but wasn't aware they had beat those other teams as well. Like I said, I give them a ton of credit. They're a really talented group and, based on recent performances, are a real threat in this division.

I'm still pulling for North Oconee. But after this weekend -with the upsets in 7AA primarily- I think this division just got a heck of lot more exciting!

I don't have any on hand currently. Let me check with the guys at UProAV. You might also check out our YouTube group, one of the members might have some footage:

You're welcome! I'm very excited to see how things shake out in AA. From what I've seen so far it's shaping up to be another exciting division!

Do you have separate video files? I like to use a service called Filemail (http://www.filemail.com). It let's you upload large files, like video, and send them via email. Or, perhaps even easier, sign up with YouTube and you can upload them there and add them to our YouTube group (http://youtube.com/group/gotspirit).
